About rubbish removal →Rubbish removal and house clearances in Otley, the Wharfedale market town under the Chevin, from stone terraces in the yards to family semis.
Otley's centre is stone: terraces, cottages and old townhouses, some tucked up yards and ginnels off the market streets, with flats over shops along Kirkgate and Boroughgate. Further out there are interwar and post-war semis, newer estates and a few bigger houses up towards the Chevin. That means anything from a flat above a shop to a family home with a garage and a long garden. Cottage clearances and downsizing jobs are very common in a town with so many older residents.
Yards and ginnels make the town centre the trickiest part. Some cottages can only be reached on foot, down a passage or through an archway, so we park as near as we can and carry. Stone terraces often have steep, winding stairs and cellars. Flats over shops are usually up a narrow staircase from the street. Houses on the slopes towards the Chevin can have steps to the door. Tell us about access when you send photos.
Market days fill the centre with stalls and shoppers, so we avoid loading in the middle of town then. The main streets are narrow with limited stopping, and there are pay-and-display car parks rather than kerbside space in many places. Outer estates are much easier, usually with drives. Westgate and the routes towards Pool and Ilkley carry the through traffic. If you're in a yard or courtyard, tell us where we can stop.
Cottage and flat clearances, garage clear-outs and garden waste are the main jobs. Old furniture and white goods are common, too. Otley's household waste recycling site on Bradford Road is close, but at the time of writing it isn't taking rubble, plasterboard, sofas or upholstered seating, so those need to go to Yeadon or be collected. We take sofas and keep them separate for incineration, which is useful while that restriction lasts.

Yes. Plenty of Otley cottages are only reachable on foot. We park as close as is safe and legal and carry everything down the passage ourselves. Longer carries take more time, which is built into the price we agree before starting. Photos of the route help us quote accurately.
Where we can. Market days bring stalls and crowds into the centre, which makes loading slow and awkward for everyone. If your property is in the middle of town, we'll suggest another day or an early start. Outer estates aren't affected, so those collections can go ahead any day.
Yes. Flats over shops on the main streets are usually up a narrow staircase, sometimes from a back yard. Two of us carry everything down and take apart beds and wardrobes where needed. If the shop downstairs is open, we'll keep the entrance clear. Tell us the floor and how you get in.
Send photos or a description: what's going, which rooms, any cellar, loft or garage, and how far the van can get. We reply with a fixed price the same working day. That's the price we load at, and we'll tell you before adding anything extra. Collections run from 7am to 7pm.
